A Picture Says a Thousand Words

Doing some image enhancement work on a great old picture of Texas Jack. The inscription, which doesn't look like Jack's signature and was likely added years after the fact, says this is from 1876, but by then Jack had grown his hair long. This photograph was probably taken between 1873 and 1875.

As technology continues to improve, so do the tools that allow us to peer into the past. Just today, MyHeritage, a company that offers a pretty robust suite of genealogy and image enhancement tools for family pictures, announced their newest offering, Deep Nostalgia. Deep Nostalgia is an AI tool that takes an existing image, like the one of Texas Jack above, and processes it using thousands of recorded movements to extrapolate what it might have looked like to record a video of the portrait's subject.
